Enfin j’y étais ! Le chapitre où j’allais écrire la scène du clignotement. Celle à laquelle je rêve depuis le début, celle qui allait changer une fois de plus le statut d’Élisa. Elle n’est pas dans un corps mais dans une machine. Enfin l’idée de départ prenait vie.
So it was it ! I was about writting the chapter with the flashing scene. The scene I have dreamt on since the beginning, the scene that was going to change Beth’s status. She was not in a body but in a machine.
Je peux écrire mon pitch maintenant : venant d’un monde où le voyage spatial n’est pensé possible que par l’esprit, Élisa une jeune Terrienne découvre – à ses dépens – que non seulement il existe des moyens de transports physiques, mais qu’ils peuvent se résumer à un simple “corps” dans lequel on héberge l’esprit d’une personne.
Et donc, notre Terrienne qui active ses capacités par décharge émotionnelle depuis le début (le corps astral à partir la salle de voyage de la loterie lorsqu’elle s’est disputée avec son petit ami par exemple) en active une belle dans ce chapitre.
J’avais tellement envie d’écrire cette scène que le moment venu, je dois dire que j’ai eu comme une frayeur, puis une déception. C’était genre “mon dieu comment je vais faire” et puis ensuite “oh ce n’est que ça finalement”. Jamais satisfaite !
Et quel rôle j’allais donner au Commandant ?
Au tout début, mais vraiment tout début, je le voyais un peu comme un Jack O’ Neal (SG1 – La porte des étoiles), pas vraiment méchant, mais un peu buté. Et puis j’ai eu envie de changer mon fusil d’épaule. Le faire un peu plus sympa, d’où la sortie à la Grande Cascade. Mais il reste un militaire et Élisa le sait.
Après, Élisa devait convaincre Étoile Scintillant dans l’Immensité de l’Univers de ne rien dire. C’est sans doute la faiblesse de ce chapitre : il accepte très vite. Un secret contre un secret sur fond de confiance mutuelle. Donc le Commandant est exclu par Élisa qui lui en veut de faire partie des “complotistes”. Elle veut qu’il lui dise la vérité et demande à Étoile Scintillant dans l’Immensité de l’Univers de se charger de le convaincre. Que croyez vous que le Commandant va faire ? I can rewrite my pitch now : coming from a world where spatial travel is being thought possible only with minds, Beth a young Earthling discovers – at her expense – that not only physical transports exist, but also they could be just a “body” with the mind of a person inside.
And so our Earthling who is activating her abilities with her emotions since the beginning (remember the astral projection she did when she was at the lottery travel center after a quarrel with her boyfriend) has activated a great one this time.
I was so impatient to write this scene, that when the time came it was like “oh, what am I going to say now” and thereafter “oh this is only that”. Never satisfied.
And what role would I give to the Major ? At the very beginning I thought him like colonel O’Neal in SG1 – not nasty but stubborn. Then I wanted to make him nicer, and so there was the journey to the Great Waterfall. But he is still a professional soldier, and Beth knows that.
Then Beth has to convince Star Shining in the Vastness of the Universe not to say anything. It is certainly the weakness of this chapter : he agrees too quickly. A secret for a secret, a mutual trust. Elisa is angry at the Major. She want him to tell her the truth, and ask Star Shinning in the Vastnes of the Universe to convince him.
